Anti-Bullying

Pink Shirt Day

  • Tell me more

Originally inspired by a simple act of kindness, Pink Shirt Day began when two high school students in Nova Scotia stood up for a classmate who was bullied for wearing pink. They bought and handed out dozens of pink shirts to show their support, and started a movement that now spans across Canada and beyond.

  • For Children & Families

Pink Shirt Day encourages all children to stand up to bullying by becoming upstanders, people who speak out, offer support, and help create safe, respectful spaces for everyone. Whether it’s in the classroom, the lunchroom, the playground, or online, every child has the power to choose kindness and make a difference.

This day is about more than wearing pink, it’s about learning how our words and actions affect others, recognizing the signs of bullying, and building a culture where inclusion, respect, and empathy are part of everyday life.

  • Why it matters to schools

    • Sparks meaningful conversations about kindness, courage, and empathy
    • Empowers students to take action when they see bullying
    • Reinforces the idea that no one should ever feel alone or unsafe at school
    • Builds a stronger, more supportive school community
