Meet the Founder Behind Easy Peasy Tees: Laura Lee’s Story

Easy Peasy Tees did not begin as a business plan. It began in a basement during one of the most chaotic seasons of founder Laura Lee’s life. She had just moved her three children home to Canada after years in the United States. Her father was recovering from a stroke. Her marriage was changing. She was balancing single motherhood with a demanding career in medical devices.

In the middle of all that, one small moment changed everything.

The Founder Moment That Sparked a Movement

On her son’s first Pink Shirt Day back in Canada, she did not have a pink shirt. Not one.

“I wrote kindness on a piece of fabric and pinned it to his shirt. He was not happy about this,” she recalls.

That moment revealed a truth every parent knows. Awareness days should not be another source of pressure. They should be simple, meaningful, and accessible.

It was the spark that eventually became Easy Peasy Tees.

A Founder Rooted in Canadian Values

Shortly after moving home to Canada, she learned about Truth and Reconciliation Day. Her brother, who works closely with Indigenous communities, taught her the importance of buying orange shirts from Indigenous creators and causes. That lesson became foundational.

It shaped the brand’s commitment to Indigenous collaboration, ethical sourcing, Canadian artists, Canadian founded apparel partners, and purpose driven giving.

“I am a single mom, an engineer, and a Canadian who believes parents deserve relief, not pressure.” That identity guides every decision behind the brand.

Living My Values Out Loud

One of the most meaningful parts of building Easy Peasy Tees for Laura Lee is the ability to live her values openly. In corporate life, inclusion work often happens quietly, tucked into ERGs or carried out in the margins of the day. Through Easy Peasy Tees, it becomes the center. The brand gives her a clear and visible way to champion belonging in a world that does not always feel inclusive. It allows her to stand for inclusion, proudly and publicly, and to build a community that shares those values.

Building Easy Peasy Tees One Lesson at a Time

The early business model focused on selling bundles through schools. Parents loved the idea, but many could not afford a full bundle for each child. Schools also planned fundraisers far in advance, making adoption slow.

So she pivoted.

She shifted to direct to consumer, invested in e-commerce, learned every printing method, bought a heat press, sourced commercial grade transfers, and began printing every shirt Meradith Moses Jackson, Gitxsan artistherself.

“Every order is touched by me,” she says. “It is where I needed to start.”

She partnered with Canadian artists including Indigenous artist Meredith Moses Jackson, Kelsey Voss & Kaleb Kaiser to create designs that were meaningful, not generic. She chose ATC, a Canadian founded apparel company with strong ethical and environmental standards.

The brand grew from grit, learning, and heart.

Why This Matters to Families

Parents do not need another task. They need relief.

Easy Peasy Tees exists to make awareness days:

  • less stressful
  • ethically sourced
  • Canadian made or Canadian founded
  • purpose driven
  • easy to shop in one place

“When you have that moment of attention, that tiny window where you remember an upcoming awareness day, you should be able to get everything you need in one click,” she explains. “That is the relief I am trying to provide.”

What Easy Peasy Tees Stands For

Purpose over pressure
Community over convenience
Ethics over shortcuts
Canadian roots over generic production
Real impact over performative participation

Sustainability Reimagined: Passing Forward

One of the brand’s most meaningful initiatives is Passing Forward, inspired by her work with Dress for Success.

Instead of letting awareness day shirts disappear into donation bins, Passing Forward keeps them in circulation intentionally. Shirts are collected, sorted, and redistributed to families who need them.

“There is power in collecting outgrown shirts for the specific cause,” she says. “It keeps them in circulation in a purpose driven way.”

It is sustainability with heart.

What’s Next for Easy Peasy Tees

Her dream is bold and beautifully Canadian.

“I want Easy Peasy Tees to be the place every family in Canada goes for awareness day apparel. The one stop shop.”

In the next three years, she hopes to expand artist collaborations, grow Passing Forward nationally, deepen partnerships with aligned causes, and build a brand families trust instinctively.

She is not chasing scale for the sake of scale. She is building a movement rooted in values.

Her Promise to Families

“I will continue to lead with honesty and integrity. You can be proud of buying from Easy Peasy Tees.”

A Final Word from the Founder

Easy Peasy Tees is not just apparel. It is a reflection of a mother trying to make life easier for families, elevate causes that matter, and build a brand that feels like community.

It is Canadian. It is ethical. It is purpose driven. And it is made with heart, one shirt at a time.
